OneCity Trust Funding

The last few months have been tough for everyone; the impact of the COVID19 pandemic has been far-reaching as most of the world continues to practice social distancing or some form of local ‘lock down’ measures. This pandemic has had devastating effects on the economy, business and personal wellbeing, as well as being a very challenging time for charities with considerable pressure being placed on their
Finances and resources.

I have been deeply impressed to hear how so many organisations supported by the OneCity Trust are adapting their services to continue their vital work and are also discovering new, innovative methods of engagement, particularly in a digital format.

I wanted to let you know that the OneCity Trust is committed to supporting your organisation throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. I would like to reiterate this and emphasise that the Board of Trustees understand the difficulties that you may be facing and are committed to being a flexible, supportive funder. We will therefore:

• Make sure that your grant payments are processed as normal.
• Offer flexibility around timescales and how funding is used.
• Avoid adding unnecessary pressure to charities at this difficult time.
• Listen to you when you tell us about how the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting you and your work.

I would ask that If you do need to make any changes to your activities; or are experiencing difficulties achieving outputs and outcomes; or will not be able to meet reporting timescales, then please do let us know. We have already heard from many current grant holders about adaptations they are making.

I am sure over the coming months we will have the opportunity to discuss how the OneCity Trust can continue to best support you in the vital work you do every day and I am looking forward to many rich and varied discussions about challenges – and successes – as we move forward into 2021. My hope is that I, the Trustees and our family of community benefit providers (Travis Perkins, CGI, ENGIE, CCG (Scotland) Ltd and the City of Edinburgh Council) are able to visit you to learn more about your work, in the not too distant future, and when it will be safer to do so. In the meantime please do keep in touch, especially if we can support you during this difficult time.

If there is anything else that would be helpful, please get in touch with us on 0131 469 3856 or elaine@onecitytrust.com.

In the meantime, on behalf of the OneCity Trust, may I take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Yours sincerely

Philip Young
